L’artigianato, ed in particolare la lavorazione serica, è stato, fin dalle origini, motore di uno sviluppo inclusivo e sostenibile del territorio lariano. È per questo motivo che a giugno 2019 la Città di Como si è ufficialmente candidata per entrare a far parte dell’UNESCO Creative Cities Network nel cluster Craft & Folk Arts. Il dossier di candidatura ha previsto la presentazione di 3 progetti a livello nazionale e tre progetti a livello internazionale, in linea con gli obiettivi 2030 delle Nazioni Unite con l’obiettivo di proteggere, salvaguardare e valorizzare il secolare patrimonio legato alla lavorazione serica comasca e le conoscenze tradizionali ad essa legate.
The handicraft, and particularly the silk working, has been, from the origins, a motor of an inclusive and sustainable development of the territory of Lake Como. For this reason in June 2019 the City of Como has officially candidated to enter to be part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the cluster Craft and Folk Arts. The candidature dossier includes the presentation of 3 projects at national level and three projects at international level, in line with the objectives 2030 of the United Nations with the objective of protecting, safeguarding and giving value to the ancient heritage linked to the silk working in Como and to its traditional knowledge.
